Conseco Fieldhouse Arena : Home of Indiana Pacers NBA Team

Conseco Fieldhouse is a sports arena in Indianapolis, Indiana, United States. It is the home of the Indiana Pacers of the National Basketball Association and the Indiana Fever of the Women’s National Basketball Association. Other entertainment events such as concerts are also frequently scheduled here.

Located at 125 S. Pennsylvania St., Indianapolis, Indiana, the arena broke ground on July 22, 1997. Conseco Fieldhouse opened on November 6, 1999 and is owned by the Capital Improvement Board. It cost $183 million in construction and its tenants include the Indiana Pacers (NBA), Indiana Fever (WNBA) and Indiana Firebirds (AFL). It has a capacity of seating 18345 people for basketball and 14400 for hockey and football.

The name is a result of the naming rights to the venue being sold to Conseco, the financially-troubled financial services organization situated in Carmel. Previously, Market Square Arena was the home of the Indiana Pacers on November 6, 1999. it is the first modern “retro-styled” facility in the NBA.

This arena has received widespread acclaim as one of the finest facilities in the entire sports world. It is designed after Hinkle Fieldhouse at Butler University and the other great fieldhouses that covered the state of Indiana with standing room only crowds on Friday nights in the beginning year of high school basketball.

In 2005, 2006 and 2007, the arena was ranked No.1 venue in the NBA by the sports Business Journal Survey. This was reconfirmed by The Ultimate Sports Road Trip. In October 2004, Conseco Fieldhouse hosted the 2004 FINA Short Course World Swimming Championships. A total of 71659 tickets was sold for the four day event.

Apart from this, Conseco also hosted WCW Sin, a professional wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) event produced by World Championship Wrestling, on January 14, 2001. It also hosted The Great American Bash on July 23, 2006 . Conseco will also host the 21st SummerSlam on August 17, 2008.
