4. San Francisco Civic Auditorium (19641967)
5. USF War Memorial Gymnasium (19641966)
6. San Jose Arena (now the HP Pavilion) (19961997)
7. Oakland Coliseum Arena/Oakland Arena/Oracle Arena (19661967, 19711996 and 1997present)
Also known as the Oakland Coliseum Arena, the Oakland arena, the Arena in Oakland, and The New Arena, the Oracle Arena is an indoor arena in Oakland, California. It was originally constructed as the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum Arena in 1966. The Cal golden Bears have played a few games at the arena over the years, as well. The arena also hosted the Bay Bombers as well as the California Golden Seals of the NHL from 1967-1976.
Still, the arena became increasingly outdated without the luxuries found in the new ones. The decision was made to proceed with a $121 million renovation that demolished much of the old arena, leaving the external walls, roof and foundation. A new seating bowl was built within the older confines, similar to the Key Arena in Seattle. Beginning in 1996, the renovation was completed in time for the Golden State Warriors to return in the fall of 1997. The new arena seats 19596 for basketball and 17000 for ice hockey.
On October 20,2006, a 10 year agreement was signed between the Golden State Warriors and the Oracle Corporation in which the Oakland Arena would be known as The Oracle. A formal press conference for the same was held on October 30.
20,679 fans gathered at the Oracle Arena on May 13, 2007 to watch the Warriors lose to the Utah Jazz in game 4 of the Western Conference semifinals. This was the largest crowd to watch a Warriors game in Oracle Arena history and also the largest crowd to ever watch a basketball game in the state of California. This record was broken on December 14, 2007, when the Warriors hosted the Los Angeles Lakers and packed in 20,705 at the arena to set a new building and attendance record. Again, this record was broken on February 20, 2008, when the arena hosted 20,711 for the Warriors-Celtics game. Yet again, this record was broken on April 10, 2008 when Oracle Arena hosted 20,737 fans in a Warriors loss to the Denver Nuggets.
