The Atlanta Hawks have played at several arenas during their tenure, namely:

• Wharton Field House (1946–1951)
• Milwaukee Arena (1951–1955)
• Kiel Auditorium (1955–1968 ), Occasionally used the St. Louis Arena
• Alexander Memorial Coliseum (1968–1972 and 1997–1999)
• Omni Coliseum (1972–1997)
• Georgia Dome (1997–1999), Some games were played at Georgia Tech's Alexander Memorial Coliseum
• Philips Arena (1999–present)

Currently, the Hawks play at the Philips Arena which is an indoor arena situated in Atlanta, Georgia. Finished in 1999 at a cost of $213.5 million, it is home to the Atlanta Hawks of the NBA and the Atlanta thrashers of the NHL. The arena seats 18,729 for basketball and 18545 for ice hockey. It is owned and operated by Atlanta Spirit, LLC, the group of investors who also own the Hawks and the Thrashers. The arena includes 92 luxury suites and 1866 club seats. For concerts and other entertainment events, the arena can seat 21000.

The arena has an unusual design with the club seats and luxury boxes aligned solely along one side of the playing surface, and the general admission seating along the other three sides. This is in contrast to other arenas which have their revenue-generating luxury boxes and club seats located in the center of the arena, making the upper deck to be 2-4 stories higher.

On the outside, angled steel columns support the roof facing downtown and spell “ATLANTA” while the side facing the Georgia World Congress Center spells out “CNN”.

Philips arena occupies the site of the Omni Coliseum, Atlanta’s former sports arena. The “center-hung scoreboard” now hangs in the lobby of Philips Arena, where it still displays The Omni’s logo along with that of Philips Arena, the Hawks and the Thrashers. The scoreboard still works and displays information related to the game taking place in the arena.
